Lightening protection
Trees, being the tall organisms that they are, get their unfair share of lightening strikes. When the tree is near a structure the bolt can often arc into a home, destroying property and causing serious damage and injury.
Homes on high ridges may be more susceptible, and in lightening prone areas a conductor installed in a tree can safely divert a strike away from the home. In nearly all cases the tree is not harmed and the bolt harmlessly disperses into the ground.
Lightening protection can also be used as extra security for highly valued trees - as a direct hit can kill or seriously injure even a large tree. Installation can provide the peace of mind needed to be comfortable in a storm.
