"Topping" is unfortunately a common practice in our area. It is extremely destructive and bypasses all aspects of tree biology. A topped tree is brutally injured and suffers a fatal spiral of decay and structural failure. If the tree is "too big" - consider crown reduction pruning or removal. If you are afraid of your tree than call us for an assessment!
Ask a kindergartener to draw a tree. Does it have leaves and branches?
